Liverpool Transfers: Are Reds Missing out on Too Many First Choice Signings?

AnField: Liverpool managed to get themselves four new signings wrapped up early on this summer, but with the exception of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, the new arrivals seem to be brought in to bolster the squad depth rather than improve the first XI.

Mignolet, along with Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto and Kolo Toure, were all signed before the start of July, while it was then expected that the Reds would move for their preferred first XI signings.

Going by the frequency and perceived reliability of most of the rumours for Liverpool's summer targets, there are a number of players who could relatively safely be identified as the Reds' first-choice signings.

Manchester United Celebrations - Picture Speak

Manchester United Players could not resist celebrating their English Premier league title win. These are the pictures of what went on in the dressing room , after 'beating' Aston Villa 3-0.

Manchester United Re-Writes History On Cruising To English Premier League Title

History is said to have a way of repeating itself. On Monday 22ND April, 2013, Manchester United appeared to have re-written history in the English Premier League. It was the second time the English Premier League was won on a Monday.

A gain on the same date, in the year 2000, precisely 13 years ago, Manchester United won the English Premier League Trophy. (If Aston Villa could have scored one goal, then that could have been the same score line…13 years ago.

It was the Clubs 20TH title league win and to note, all the goals were scored by the club’s new king, Robin Van Persie in jersey Number 20. The 33-minute hat trick was the fastest in the Premier League for over nine years, and the hat trick included a volley that Sir. Alex Ferguson dubbed ‘the goal of the Century”.

Manchester United – The New English Premier League Champions

A hat trick from Robin Van Persie, fired a rejuvenated Manchester United to their 20TH English Premier League win over relegation threatened Aston Villa.

It was a sweet victory for Manchester United snatching the league trophy from their arch rivals and ‘noisy neighbours’, Manchester City.

Meanwhile, City’s boss; Roberto Mancini had sounded bullish over the weekend, saying that Manchester City squad was better than Manchester United’s. That over the league games, they missed many of their chances to stay on top of the league. Because that’s where they definitely belong.

Mancini reiterated that Manchester United were somehow lucky to have snatched the league trophy from Manchester City. However, City still has a chance of redeeming their image by winning the FA Cup, whose finals are impending.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND VS REAL MADRID

Vs

Who could have foreseen this fixture? It is what the world has silently been waiting. Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid is a fixture some would say is ‘made in heaven’. With the teams that more less play the same kind of football, the end result is definitely unpredictable.

The Spanish giants have of late been at their best form, remembering that they crushed the English giants and 20TH Premier League title holders; Manchester United. However, Jurgen Klopp’s men hope to upset the visiting Spanish giants and probably find their way in the Champions league finals at Wembley. When they last met in the grou stage, Borussia Dortmund defeated Real Madrid 2-1 at home and drew 2-2 in Madrid.

Borussia Dortmund will feature in this game as a full house, with Jurgen Klopp having both the luxury and headache of choosing a befitting squad. Meanwhile, Real Madrid has some injury worries in Marcelo (hamstring), Luka Modric and Karim Benzema (Minor Injuries). On the other hand, Alvaro Arbeloa remains suspended.

Borussia Dortmund remains the only un-beaten team in the Champion League.

Tusker Fc Vs Mathare United (Top 8 Clash)

VS

In what is shaping up to be a battle of titans, Tusker FC and Mathare United are scheduled to meet on Wednesday, 24TH April, 2003 in the Top Eight (Quarter Final Fixture) for the sh. 1 Million Prize Money.

Tusker have had a rather disappointing start to the Season and hopes of making it up in the Top 8 games; and it is only victory over the ‘Slum Boys’ which may vindicate them. The Brewers head into this fixture with only one victory in the last five matches. Former Mathare United striker; Jesse Were may be a key figure the Brewers might heavily rely on, his wastefulness against Leopards game notwithstanding.

On the other hand, after an equally slow start to the season, the Slum Boys have steadily adjusted if their recent performance is anything to go with. With figures like Edgar Ochieng and Kevin Ochieng; both at the back and in the midfield, the Slum Boys have the requisite composition to make their Top 8 duel a breath taking one.

Team Facts

Mathare United’s goal keeper (Ruto), is a former Tusker FC goal keeper.
Jesse Were and Andrew Tololwa are two Mather United Fc players who are currently in the Tusker FC squad.

At the end of the last season, Mathare United lost their entire premier league squad.
Tusker FC and Mathare United are schedule to meet again on Saturday, 27TH April, 2013, in a re-scheduled premier league fixture.
