Edwin Lavatsa is happy to repay the faith shown in him by Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche.
Lavatsa has been in the Stars set-up since Amrouche’s arrival
despite other available forwards doing better than him in the Kenyan
Premier League scoring charts.
And despite the pressure to choose a different forward, Amrouche has
stuck with him, which saw his faith repaid in the 2-0 Cosafa Cup win
over Swaziland, where Lavatsa scored both goals in Amrouche’s first win
as Stars coach.
The Gor Mahia forward is happy to do his boss a favour, if it can be called so.
“Scoring for the national team is always a pleasure. It is what one works hard every day for,” said Lavatsa.
“I thank my teammates for the goals, as without them I would not
have performed as well as I did. “The coach too has shown faith in me
all this time, so I am happy to score and help his cause too.
“It is not over for us yet as we have to work hard and ensure we do
well in our final game of the group and qualify for the quarterfinals.
“Our goal is to go as far as possible in the competition, so we can’t
celebrate now.”
The Stars take on Botswana on Thursday, where a win will be sought to guarantee a place in the last eight. [ Source ]
