Harambee Stars players’ allowances have been increased from Kshs3000 ($35) to Kshs 10000 ($118).
This was confirmed to supersport.com by FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya on Monday.
“We want to encourage the boys ahead of the World cup campaign and
we have decided to increase their daily allowances. They were initially
earning Kshs 3000 per day but that has been increased to Kshs10,000. We
want to motivate the players and achieve the goals we intend to reach.”
He also commented on the ‘Mbao for Bao’ campaign which translates to ’Kshs 20 for a goal’ in English.
“We want Kenyans to own the national team and they can do that by
supporting the Harambee Stars and send a text to 20870 then the team
will earn the Kshs 20 from the effort as a result. The response so far
has been overwhelming and we would like to call for fans to support by
participating.”
Kenya is currently bottom of Group F with two points, while their
next opponents Nigeria top the group with five, level on points with
Malawi who are followed by Namibia with three on third place.
